Porto Alegre will have the honor to host the IV Latin American Congress of Photobiology and Photomedicine for the first time in Brazil. For this to happen, we are counting on the valuable support from the Brazilian Society of Dermatology-section RS. It will be an only edition joined by three major events: the IV Congress, the XXX Jornada Gaúcha de Dermatologia and the XXV Jornada de Dermatologia do Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre.

The scientific program, carefully planned, covers several themes from Photomedicine to General Dermatology, focusing the most updated aspects of the scientific research and the direct application of this knowledge in daily practice. We will have 3 theoretical courses and 10 practice courses emphasizing the application of light as a therapeutic mode, and the cosmiatric procedures as microdermabrasion, botulinum toxin and dermal fillings. A free course will be offered by professionals non doctors interested in the effects of sun exposure and in photoeducation.

The most recent information is the responsibility of the Environmental Photobiology Work Group, Photoeducation and Phototherapy, represented by 20 specialists from different countries, which will discuss and elaborate a Latin American consensus on these themes. The conclusions will be presented to the other congress participants at the end of the event, during a special section. Documents will also be elaborated to support future international publications to make Latin America widely known by its own aspects.

Among the innovations, there will be sections called “Meeting the Experts”, with specialists from specific areas who will share their experience by presenting themes in depth and answering their colleagues’ doubts.

The scientific production will receive exclusive attention, with a large area for work exhibit which will be recognized for its exceptional and scientific importance. Finally, this will be a unique opportunity for acquaintances and scientific update, with renowned international specialists and lecturers.

In addition to the scientific program, we are considering the social activities with special care. For sure, this will be a great moment to establish partnerships and to renew friendship.
